The Open College Network Northern Ireland (OCN NI) is a UK recognised Awarding Organisation based in Northern Ireland. We are regulated by CCEA Regulation to develop and award regulated professional and technical (vocational) qualifications from Entry Level up to and including Level 5 across all sector areas.

We are currently recruiting for the following position

Receptionist

Salary: Starting salary band £23,949 - £26,282

Hours: 35 hours per week

About the role: As our Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing a professional reception service, event management and administrative support to the Customer Services Team.

Essential Skills Markers

As OCN NI continues to develop our qualification offer and market share, we are always looking for new Markers.

We are particularly interested in receiving CVs from people with the following subject experience:

  • Essential Skills Application of Number
  • Essential Skills Communication

If you currently deliver OCN NI Essential Skills qualifications, you are not currently eligible to mark.

The role of a marker

  • To mark external assessments and submit results using our QuartzWeb system within a set timescale.
  • Apply the mark scheme consistently and accurately
  • You will report suspected malpractice concerns
  • Identifying issues and trends, for example, if all learners are misinterpreting the same aspect of something
  • To update their own continuing professional development (CPD) regarding subject knowledge and marker practice

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Essential Skills Markers must:

  • Meet the DEL Circular ES 01/12: Qualifications Required to Deliver Essential Skills in Northern Ireland
  • Have previous qualification delivery experience in the curriculum area
  • Have recent CPD in the curriculum area

Markers are contracted on an annual basis and services will be provided to OCN NI through a third-party service agreement.

External Quality Assurers (EQAs)

As OCN NI continues to develop our qualification offer and market share, we are always looking for new EQAs.

We are particularly interested in receiving CVs from people with the following subject experience:

  • Construction in particular BIM, Revit, Green Technologies, Engineering, Plumbing, Electrical and Brickwork
  • ICT in particular Cloud computing, Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Software Testing and Geographical Information Systems
  • Science including Environmental Science
  • Vehicle Maintenance
  • Providing Social Security Advice
  • Sports and E-Sports
  • Religious Studies (English and Irish speaking teachers)
  • Event Management
  • Photography
  • Research and Data Analytics 

The role of the EQA

The EQA role is both a challenging and rewarding experience.

  • You will confirm the qualification standards are met, ensuring centre staff interpret, understand, and consistently apply the correct standards and requirements
  • You will ensure quality standards and continuous improvement is evident within centres
  • You will confirm centre compliance against OCN NI policies and procedures, ensuring the centre’s policies, procedures, systems and resources meet OCN NI, qualification and regulatory requirements
  • You will report suspected malpractice concerns
  • You will advise and support centre staff to develop best practice
  • You will complete a report of what was sampled, highlighting any action and improvement points
  • You will keep accurate, full, and confidential records
  • You will identify issues and trends, for example, if all assessors are misinterpreting the same aspect of the assessment criteria
  • keep up to date with your own continuing professional development (CPD) regarding subject knowledge and EQA practice. OCN NI will provide training on company systems and procedures.

The EQA will maintain effective working relationships with recognised centres and OCN NI. This is a great opportunity to be able to use your expertise to provide advice and support to new and existing centres.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Subject Specialist EQAs must have:

  • A relevant qualification, Level 4 or above
  • Previous job-related experience or qualification delivery experience in the curriculum area
  • A teaching and/or a quality assurance qualification.
  • Recent CPD in the curriculum area

EQAs are contracted on an annual basis and services will be provided to OCN NI through a third-party service agreement.
